Features

Everything you need, nothing you don't

Meridian does one thing: turn a specification into documentation people can actually navigate. No page builder, no plugin marketplace.

  • Builds in seconds

Static output with no runtime dependencies. A 400-endpoint spec builds in under ten seconds and serves from any CDN.

  • Reads your spec directly

Point it at an OpenAPI 3.x file — local or remote. Endpoints, schemas, and examples are generated from the source of truth.

  • Search that works offline

A prebuilt search index ships with the site. Results appear as you type, with no search service to run or pay for.

  • Accessible by default

Semantic markup, keyboard navigation, and WCAG AA contrast in both themes. Verified in CI on every build.

  • Versioned docs

Publish multiple API versions side by side. Readers switch between them without losing their place in the page.

  • Own your output

Plain HTML and CSS you can read and modify. No proprietary format, no lock-in, no phone-home.

Customers

Teams that stopped maintaining their docs tooling

  • We replaced a docs setup that took two people a week to maintain. Meridian rebuilt it from our existing spec in an afternoon, and it has not needed attention since.

    Priya RamanPlatform Lead, Northwind
  • The search is genuinely fast, which sounds like a small thing until you have four hundred endpoints and support tickets asking where something is.

    Tomas LindqvistStaff Engineer, Basalt
  • Our docs are the first thing integration partners see. Having them load instantly and work on a phone has measurably shortened onboarding.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Still unsure about something? The documentation covers the details, and support replies to everyone including free accounts.

Does Meridian work with OpenAPI 2.0 (Swagger)?

Yes. Version 2.0 specs are converted to 3.x during import. The conversion is lossless for everything Meridian renders, and any unsupported extension is reported as a warning rather than silently dropped.

Where does the generated site get hosted?

Anywhere that serves static files — Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, S3, GitHub Pages, or your own nginx. The build produces a directory of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no server-side requirement.

Can I customise the design?

Every color, font, and spacing value is a CSS custom property in a single tokens file. For deeper changes, the templates are plain HTML and CSS with no build-time abstraction to work around.

What happens to my sites if I stop paying?

Public sites keep working. Private sites become public after a 30-day grace period rather than going offline, and you can export the generated output at any time on any plan, including Free.

Do you offer a self-hosted version?

Yes, on the Business plan. The self-hosted build runs as a single binary with no external dependencies and is licensed per organisation rather than per seat.
